Tips to DeFrizz Your Hair

Frizz can create problems while styling your hair. Frizzy hair is difficult to manage.

Follow these tips to take care of frizzy hair:

Shampoo and Condition: While washing hair, pay attention to your scalp. Use a low-detergent shampoo (shampoo that doesn’t give out too much lather) or a formula for fine hair. Wash off before applying conditioner, keep it on for some time and then rinse with cold water. Then press (avoid rubbing) damp hair with towel. Use a wide-tooth comb for combing your hair gently.

Use Styling Products: When your hair is wet, apply a small amount of silicone gel, cream, or serum by rubbing it between your hands and running it down the hair length to close the cuticles. Rougher the hair, heavier and richer product should be. To ensure each strand of hair is covered from the roots to the ends, pin the upper layers of hair and smoothen gel or serum on the lower layers first.

Dry: If you want your curly hair to retain its natural look, allow it to air-dry, or blow-dry it by using a diffuser. Position the dryer to allow the diffuser to cradle from lower end. For straight hair, make it into 2” wide portions. Blow-dry each part with high settings starting from roots to ends with a metal barrel or boar-bristle brush and nozzle downwards. Apply serum or pomade after the hair dries to close the cuticles.

Other handy hints:

Shampoo alternate day: Detergent blows up the hair shaft and roughens the cuticles. On the days you do not shampoo, simply wash the hair and apply conditioner to the ends.

Cleaning the hair without fluffing frizzy ends: Apply shampoo at the crown.

Once you finish blow drying hair straight, change the dryer setting to cool for some time and then blow each part again.
