To get a new look quickly, simply change the color of your hair. It will also give you a chance to go shopping for a new wardrobe because different clothes suit different hair colors. There are 2 types of colors: permanent and semi-permanent. Each type has its own shades.
Permanent Colors: These colors should be mixed with hydrogen peroxide to change hair color. The peroxide opens the hair cuticle to allow the color to enter the cortex, giving it color. For quicker and lighter result, use more peroxide.
Semi-Permanent Colors: They do not change the color, all that they do is that they change the tone of your natural color or make the color darker. Quasi-color contains ethanolamine and 3% peroxide that open the cuticle a little. Since the color does not reach the cortex, it remains for 20 washes and then gradually fades away, without causing any regrowth problem.
Semi-Permanent Vegetable Colors: These colors consist of vegetable extracts and natural ingredients and do not remove the color from your hair. It has the similar effects as the henna but does not coat the hair while adding shine. This color lasts for 8 washes and sits on the hair’s surface.
Since different hair styles need different color methods, you need to consult an expert before getting the hair color done.
Skin Tone: Your new hair color should match your skin tone. If you have light skin, dark colors will not suit you as they tend to draw out the color from the skin. Dark, tanned skin does not suit one-tone blonde, but 4 or 5 blonde, chestnut or honey tones look great.
BLONDE: Consult your stylist before attempting to color your hair blonde. If you have virgin dark brown hair, the process is painless. But if you have dyed your hair, the process can become long and complicated. For the first time, get this job done by an expert.
RED: Red is the ultimate color giving you sexy look. It attracts people’s attention very quickly. Hair tends to take on the red hue quite fast, so achieving the coppered head is easy. However remember, if you are blonde, you should apply a shade that is at least 2-3 shades darker than original color to get dark red/brunette color and the process is irreversible.
BROWN: Brunette is always the safest choice as it is right for every person. Adding highlights to change the shade will allow you to get a wide range of colors. The combinations of natural tones add beautiful shine and condition to your hair.
BLACK: It is the easiest color to get due to presence of big molecules in the black color and looks good on all types of hair. This color suits only the people whose skin tones are darker and olive. It is an ideal for getting the goth look but does not work with old people.
Coloring does not harm your hair. But if wrong amount of peroxide is used or if you are over-processing (application of too many permanent colors) your hair, can lead to hair damage. If you change the hair color regularly, especially while going from blonde to brown and reverting to blonde, ensure you use deep conditioning treatments.
Sometimes, colored hair can look dull and lifeless. The main reason is over-processing. In this case, use semi-permanent colors since the colors remain above your hair, giving it lot of tone and shine.
Permanent colors, if used correctly will give you a stunning look. On the other hand, semi-permanent colors make your hair shiny and improve the condition but won’t lift the original hair color. Besides, they are ineffective if the grey hair is more (over 50%). The best solution is after using permanent color, apply semi-permanent color to retain the permanent color while conditioning your hair.
