Tips For Hair

Hair loss is one of the prime concerns of people all across the globe. Also known as alopecia, it can affect either sex, and is mainly due to hormonal or genetic causes. Infections, exertion, inadequate or incorrect diet or cancer therapies can also cause hair loss. People suffering from this generally resort to use of Finasteride or minoxidil. Those who are not keen on taking drugs, undergo hair transplantation.

But before you succumb to procedures such as these, here are a few ways you can employ to slow down hair loss, if not stop it completely.

Using herbs as medications is an effective alternative therapy. Rosemary and Aloe vera are two tried and tested herbs used since the very beginning. Few other natural products are capsicum and lemon grass, which not only stimulate hair growth but also enhance their look.

The basic reason behind hair loss is due to the effect of the hormone, Dihydrotestosterone, DHT in short. Any natural or synthetic products which can block either the synthesis or the action of this chemical can thereby prevent loss of hair. This is the basic requirement from any chemical for treatment of Alopecia. A Chinese herb, Dong Quai in particular has been used since ages to stop the action of DHT. Saw palmetto of the Palm family is also associated with inhibiting the DHT’s effect in the body.

Alopecia can occur in any of us, but if seen early, can be arrested at an initial stage itself thereby avoiding usage of heavy medications or undergoing complicated surgeries.
