Nutrients For Your Hair

Hair growth requires essential vitamins, minerals and a host of other nutrients. Any deficiency of the same will reflect in your hair, resulting in dry or dull looking hair, which may even fall prematurely.

Vitamins are essential for various body functions and also to maintain hair texture and growth. There are two types of vitamins – fat-soluble and water-soluble. The fat-soluble group contains A, D, E and K. Their intake must be precisely monitored, as a required amount will provide positive results but an excess quantity can undo the same and also cause various other problems. These are generally found in green leafy vegetables, pumpkins, butter etc. Vitamin D is unique for the fact that it can be synthesized by the body on exposure to sunlight.

The water-soluble vitamin includes B and C and is relatively safer in their dosage. B-Complex can be found mainly in grains, cereals, milk and milk products while Vitamin C is mainly found in citrus fruits.

Besides vitamins, zinc and saw palmetto are few other foodstuff that should be consumed for better vitality and growth of your hair. Zinc not only improves the growth of your hair but also improves the health of your scalp. There have been cases where intake of zinc has also prevented graying of hair.

An adequate diet is a must not only to improve the health of your hair, but also to improve the overall condition of your body.
