Dry Hair Treatment

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

Our hair contains about 10% of moisture. When the moisture level goes below this level, you should aim to increase the hair’s capacity to absorb and retain moisture. Use of moisturizers is the best solution.

Good moisturizers contain humectants that have the dual benefit of replacing lost moisture and absorbing and retaining additional moisture in the cortex of the hair. The best moisturizers are Essential fatty aids (EFA’s). Safflower oil is one of the best and cost-effective essential fatty acids. It contains plenty of EFA’s.

The scalp produces sebum, which is one of the best EFA’s. The problem arises when the length of hair exceeds the neck line or when the contact between the scalp and the hair is broken. This prevents the natural oils in the scalp from reaching throughout the hair shaft.

To replace the lost EFA’s manually, perform the following procedure:

Pour 1-2 drops of safflower oil on your palms and rub them together. The quantity should be enough to let your hands glitter in the light. Carefully take your hair when dry and apply a small quantity of oil to the ends initially and then work your way to the scalp. Let it remain in your hair.

The quantity of safflower oil used on dry hair is too small to be noticed.
Repeating the process above as frequently as possible will provide the right quantity of humectants that will attract and retain the moisture. This tiny amount will provide massive benefits.
