There are various types of hair and need different types of caring methods that vary as the hair type. One of the types is a combination type of hair. This hair is very oily at the scalp but becomes dry and sometimes brittle towards the ends. If you are wondering how to care for this type of hair, this article will tell you how.
There are multiple ways of caring for combination hair using the right products correctly, it is possible for you to prevent damage to your hair, protect it, make it healthy and improve its overall appearance.
Washing the hair correctly is the first step. While shampooing, avoid using hot water to dampen your hair. Hair strands are highly vulnerable to very high temperature and hot water will destroy them. Ensure you use lukewarm water.
Select the products for your hair carefully. Do not use shampoos meant for oily hair if your hair is combination type. It can deteriorate the condition of the dry tips of your strands. Instead, select shampoos for normal hair.
Avoid using excessive shampoo to wash your hair. A dollop of the size of the quarter should be used. The shampoo should be applied directly to the scalp and you should allow the suds to go to the ends of your hair. Do not apply the shampoo directly to the tips since it will strip off the oils that are essential for your hair tips. If needed, remove some suds from your scalp and use it to wash the hair tips. Avoid cleaning your hair ends excessively and handle them carefully. Wash off the shampoo properly.
Once shampooing is finished, apply a rinse-off conditioner. Avoid applying conditioner directly to your scalp. The moisturizing agents in the conditioner result in the scalp in secreting excess oil. Instead focus on applying the conditioner to the tips of your hair strands. Then wash the hair properly with cold water to seal the moisture and to prevent your hair from secreting excess oil.
A deep conditioning treatment weekly will improve the condition of your combination type hair. Apply moisturizing conditioner to the dry portions of your hair, tie it in a towel and leave it on for a couple of hours before washing it thoroughly. You can use olive oil in lieu of commercial conditioner. Trim your hair after every 2 months to eliminate the brittle ends of the hair.
The combination type of hair can be easily managed by taking proper care.
