Long Hair and Updo Hairstylists

If you want to get your long hair serviced, you might face problems. That is because it is difficult to get a salon offering service for a long hair. Some do not provide the service, while others do not have the required expertise. Some of the reasons given by the hairstylists for not offering this service are:

Time-consuming

Learned the skill, practiced it but stopped the practice and forgot

Watching the hairstylist at work is simple. But when you actually do the work, it is puzzling. Getting the new clients and retaining them is a difficult task for a hairstylist. It is easy to keep new clients if your salon whole gamut of hair services including long hair. Practicing on a wig or mannequin is the best way to overcome all the drawbacks listed above. Try this in spare time between your appointments to develop your confidence and show off your skills to your clients.

If you are an expert in the long hair, develop your expertise to such an extent that even your rivals start referring their customers to you. Publicize the fact that you do long hair. This will give you a competitive edge over many other stylists who don’t do long hair and attract more clients to your salon.

Advertise your skills with the bridal shops and the formal dress shops. This will entice the girls going to evening functions, since they are always on the lookout for stylish hairdos. It will fetch you more customers for updo, while benefiting the bridal shop.

Make a photo album of the mannequins or the customers on whom you have used your skills. This will allow your future clients to judge your skills. You can also offer your services to the clothing store when they have a special day or sale day. This will advertise your skills to the prospects. You can photograph your work with a digital camera and make a book of the color copies of the photos. Add some of your business cards with these books and request the management of the bridal shops to put them up for display.

Hand out complimentary card once the client gets their hair done. Write down the discount you will offer at the back of the card. This is a very effective technique to be used during high schools, when the proms and dances are regularly held.

Though the rate charged for long hair varies from place to place, the general rule is that you should charge minimum $5 more than the normal hairstyle. However, be judicious, as some clients will need only 15 minutes for a quick updo. Charging more may make you lose that client for good.
